To meet all requirements, we recommend that students enroll with at least four semesters left at UF. However, we are willing to work with those who are closer to graduation.
Enrollment in the program will officially open Fall 2024, while the first classes will be taught Spring 2025. Once enrolled, students will attend an on-campus orientation to learn more about specific requirements for the program. Please fill out this form so you can be the first to hear about enrollment dates and how to get started.
UF Gulf Scholars will consist of coursework, experiential learning (internships, research opportunities, field excursions, etc.), and the completion of a Gulf Impact Project in partnership with a faculty member and/or community partner. Additionally, UF Gulf Scholars will be required to attend group meetings, public programs and organized field excursions.
Through this program, you will be able to bring your lived experiences and community connections into your undergraduate education. UF Gulf Scholars will have the chance to take Gulf-focused coursework; participate in internships, research projects, field excursions, and more; network with professionals and peers from many academic backgrounds; and work with faculty mentors and community partners on Gulf Impact Projects.
Students who meet all requirements will receive a certificate from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine as well as a UF Gulf Scholars medallion.
